Hi! I actually bought the products I talk about in this post. If you want to try them, please use the link on this page to check them out. I’ll make a little money if you do. That would be awesome! You could even drop me a line via Twitter @decentmadam to let me know it was you! And then we can talk about whether you love them!
Well, see for yourself.

It’s not that somewhere in my brain I didn’t know that rain, or in this case, an overspray from a sprinkler nozzle, could wash seeds away. I know I’ve read passages in books talking about keeping a freshly seeded bed uniformly moist, and watering with a hand mister so as not to… wash away the seeds.
Shoot. Why are there things in life that I have to learn from myself the hard way? Oh well, lesson learned. We’ll find out how this affects the dig vs. no dig lettuce test. Fortunately, I’ve already set up another dig vs. no dig test with pea seeds, so we’ll have additional data if the lettuce go wonky. No sign of sprouts as of this morning. Alas. I really wanted that lettuce.
Meanwhile, I got a pressure operated hand mister to water these beds, and maybe try foliar application of fertilizer with this. It’s affordable, reasonably sturdy, and has an adjustable nozzle. Plus it has little measuring lines to help me challenge my fertilizer phobia. I do have to pump it up often, but I get a continuous mist out of it, and it’s easier on the old phalanges (yes, I name dropped some arbitrary finger bones. Totally did that.).
