Hi! I actually bought the products I talk about in this post. If you want to try them, please use the link on this page to check them out. I’ll make a little money if you do. That would be awesome! You could even drop me a line via Twitter @decentmadam to let me know it was you! And then we can talk about whether you love them!
I went on a hunt recently to find the perfect seed storage container (for me). I want to be able to find my seeds all in one place, and it’s not a priority for me to keep seeds from one year to the next. I mean, it’s way too much fun to buy seeds each year to want to keep them hanging around. Plus, I’ve decided to just plant a ton of seeds and eat them as young plants or microgreens, so the plan is to use up my seeds from year to year. And then buy more!
After an arduous search, I decided that a tool box style box was the right option for me. Plus, look at this thing, It’s adorable!
This particular box has just one tray, and it only goes across two thirds of the box, so taller items can be stood up on the open side of the box. It has been handy to keep my seeds this way, because I can easily sort through to find what I’m looking for, and I occasionally get my jollies plan my crop rotation by sorting these by next planting date. That way, I know what’s coming next and where to find it.

In addition to the seeds, this has also been a nice place to keep other tiny gardening things like plastic plant labels and temperature sensitive things that store similarly to seeds, like my soil test kits and soil builder.

It’s definitely contributing to the “children’s vegetable garden” vibe we’ve got going on with our colored plant markers and tools, not something I would chose for myself, but it keeps the kiddo busy. Always a bonus. This morning the kiddo decided she wanted to help me plant seeds and brought the box out herself.
